RCES Restaurant Nights are fundraisers for our school. These are opportunities for us to raise money on busy school nights when families might be dining out or getting take-out. Generous local restaurants give RCES-PTA a percentage of the evening's sales. So if you're ordering dinner out anyway, this is just a great opportunity to give back to RCES at the same time! There will typically be two Restaurant Nights scheduled per month, the first Monday and third Tuesday of each month when those dates don't conflict with a holiday. These Restaurant Nights are low-key and no pressure! Don't feel obligated to bring the whole family unless you'd like to! There are several Restaurant Nights on the calendar that are fun events for the whole family, though. Look for nights out at Carvel Ice Cream and Marble Slab Creamery! "Celebrity Scoopers" from RCES have been invited to serve ice cream and there is a special Combo Restaurant Night planned for May this year.
Tuesday, Sept. 21st Noodles & Co., 5-9pm
Monday, Oct. 4th Panera, 5-9pm
Tuesday, Oct. 19th Carvel Ice Cream, 6-8pm
Thanks for your support, Blue Herons!

Rachel Carson in the News Community Outreach
Today's Gazette features an article about the Outreach Program for our
families at Governor Sqaure Apartments. This great program is supported by the
school staff, parents and the PTA. It is a completely volunteer driven
program. You can read about it at http://www.gazette.net/stories/02032010/gaitnew220626_32547.php .
Thank you to our teachers, administrators and of course the parents that
have been helping out in their efforts to make a difference for our extended
community.

RCES PTA Needs PTA Board Members
Jennifer Coulson, Indu Subbiah and Mark Ezrin are 1 ½ years into their
terms on the RCES PTA Board.
As specified in the bylaws, terms are limited to a
maximum of 2 consecutive 1 year terms. Therefore, we are looking for parents
that are interested in shaping the future of RCES and specifically the PTA.
Specifically, we are looking for a President, Treasurer and Secretary.
Melissa Wilson and Kimberly Hall are 1 year into their terms and are eligible
to continue in their roles. However, as specified in the bylaws, all
positions are technically open.
We are looking for motivated parents to fill any
of the PTA Board positions.
Also, to dispel a few rumors or concerns that seem to come
up at election time, elections are not open per se and the process is tightly
governed by National PTA bylaws. “The Nominating Committee shall nominate
an eligible person for each office to be filled and report its nominees
to the general membership at least ten (10) days prior to the general
membership meeting in April, at which time additional nominations may be made
from the floor.” If no nominations are made from the floor in
April, then the names put forth by the Nominating Committee are confirmed by
voice vote at the May meeting. If there is a nomination from the floor, then
elections are held at the May meeting for any contested office.
If interested contact mark@ezrinfamily.com , or any other Board member ASAP.
Remember, without your help, we cannot continue to be a successful and involved
PTA. Thank you for your consideration.
